The Heart Awakening School of Healing is held at the Sedona Dahn Retreat Center. The
Sedona Dahn Retreat Center is located 16 miles southwest of Sedona, Arizona, between Sedona and
Cottonwood. Sedona is approximately 125 miles north of Phoenix and 40 miles south of Flagstaff,
Arizona. Please review the enclosed map so as to ensure your safe and timely arrival. When
arriving at the Retreat Center, you will see signs directing you to the main conference facility,
which is the location for registration and check in. You will receive your room assignment at
that time.
Arriving by car
Take interstate Highway I-17 to the Cottonwood exit or Sedona exit (see
map below). Either exit will lead you to Highway 89A which you should follow to mile-marker
#358 and turn onto Bill Gray Road. This is an unpaved forest service road and Freedom Way (the
turn off to the center) is 10 miles into the National Forest. Forest service road signs are not
optimally placed and therefore, difficult to see.
Arriving by plane
Many of you will be flying into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, which is two hours from the Sedona
Retreat Center. Some people like to rent a car from Budget, Thrifty, Avis, Hertz, etc. and follow
the enclosed map directly to the center. You will not need a vehicle during the retreat. Another
option is to take the public shuttle service from the airport to Cottonwood and take a cab service
to the center.

Times
The Retreat begins on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM. You should plan to arrive by 8:30 a.m. for
sign in and completion of any registration requirements. Give yourself time for hugs and hellos.
It will help to get the energy for the group going when we can all start together at 9:00 a.m.
The other days begin at 7:00 a.m. with Qigong. This is more energy work than exercise. Please
wear loose clothing. At 8:30 a.m. you will have an hour for breakfast, and we will meet for the
morning session from 9:30 to 12:00. Lunch is from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. From 2:00-6:00p.m. is
designed for the healing sessions. Dinner is between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
The school retreat ends at 5:00 p.m. on Monday evening and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday evening for the
healing retreats. Please have your rooms ready for departure on Monday morning or Sunday
morning.
Meals
The cost of the meals are included from Thursday lunch through Monday lunch for the school and
Thursday lunch through Sunday lunch for the retreats. If you would like additional meals either
before or after the class they are available at $5 for breakfast and $10 for lunch or dinner.
During the other days, three meals a day are provided. We are planning the main meal at lunch
with something lighter in the evening. The cooking is Korean in style, mostly vegetarian and very
well-balanced nutritionally. There is only one menu, though there should be enough choices in the
menu to satisfy everyone. The chef uses organic foods whenever possible, no wheat, no sugar, no
coffee, no dairy. This usually takes care of most people's dietary requirements; however, if you
have special needs, please inform the office ahead of time so we can make arrangements for you.
We will provide light snacks, juice and bottled water.
Lodging
Your lodging is included in the cost of the retreat from Thursday night through Saturday night for
the healing retreat and Thursday night through Sunday night for the school. If you wish to stay
Wednesday night or an extra night after the class, please inform the Dahn Center ahead of time,
mention that you are with Heart Awakening and they will put you into the same room that you will
have during the retreat. The cost of the extra night is an additional charge. The school lodging
is based on double occupancy. The healing retreat lodging is based on comfortable dormitory style
lodging with up to six people per room all of the same sex.
What to bring
Energy is more easily accessed and released through natural fabrics. We recommend loose, layered
and informal clothing. We usually feel like changing before the afternoon sessions and often right
afterwards. The desert sun is hot during the day, but it can be very cool in the morning and
evenings so sweat suits, jackets or sweaters may be necessary, especially in the winter time.
Bring walking shoes as there are places to hike in the area. Many of us go barefoot during the
class, so you may want to bring socks or slipper socks for your comfort. There is a swimming pool
so bathing suits are in order. Also, you may want to bring a small portable water bottle with you,
as people tend to drink more water in the desert.
Questions
Feel free to call the office if you have any questions about anything. We understand that many of
you are coming to a new environment. Apprehensions start as soon as you make the commitment.
Please, call the office if you have any questions, concerns or are just so excited you have to
talk to someone.
With love & laughter,
The Heart Awakening Staff
